| | | Lauzun | | | | A little history...
Situated on a hilltop, Lauzun has always been a strategically important location. During Gallo-Roman times, it was the site of an "oppidum" (fortified settlement). At the end of the 6th century, a castle was constructed there and the town of Lauzun grew up around the castle. During the 12th century, the castle became an impenetrable fortress with a moat, dungeons, ramparts and drawbridges. By the time of the Renaissance, however, the castle was transformed into a comfortable residence for the resident lord. Today, Lauzun has a reputation for its historical architecture and for tourism.

The castle (6th century) is privately owned, but is open for visits during the summer season; three churches - Église rue Pissebaque, Église de Queyssel & Église Saint-Macaire.
